About The Position

The Housekeeping Team Lead will be responsible to assist the department leader to ensure the cleaning of the property meets or exceeds brand and company standards. Additionally, the Housekeeping Team Lead will participate in the activities of the Housekeeping Department to provide guests with clean, attractive, well-maintained rooms and a secure place to stay.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience working in a similar role, previous hotel experience considered an asset
  • Previous exposure to expenses and budgets considered an asset
  • Previous exposure with inventory management considered an asset
  • Ability to demonstrate being both a leader and team player
  • Strong attention to detail, quality workmanship
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to set and monitor goals and provide status updates as required
  • Ability to set priorities for self and others in the hotel
  • A fun, positive attitude with a sense of humour
  • A High School Diploma or GED required

Responsibilities

  • Act as department leader on duty when assigned
  • Assist in daily assignment of rooms to housekeeping associates and all room cleaning and laundry work assigned is completed according to brand and company standards
  • Assist housekeeping department leader with inspecting all rooms for cleanliness and maintenance issues daily
  • Assist in staff scheduling in accordance with forecasted business, maintaining productivity norms and achieving the departmental wage budget
  • Assist housekeeping department leader to ensure punctuality, efficiency and continued adherence to hotel policies and procedures, and delegate tasks as necessary
  • Assist in providing communication updates to associates and actively encourage communication with other departments within the hotel
  • Assist in ensuring all staff are aware of procedures the Emergency Action Plan for the property
  • Assist in inventory control, including monthly and/or weekly inventory counts and preparation of orders
  • Support the department leader in the hiring and orientation of all staff
  • Assist in training of all team members within the department
  • Encourage team engagement, happiness and satisfaction
  • Carry out the duties of an absent staff member and/or assist in another department as necessary
  • Ensure all staff are competent in the safe and effective use of equipment/chemicals in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
  • Ensure compliance with company and house rules
  • Ensure corridors and staff areas are cleaned to standards
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of housekeeping forms/reports, following procedures required by hotel policy
  • Clean rooms, common and staff areas or work in laundry as needed
  • Respond to and anticipate guest needs with any comments or complaints being action following procedures in accordance with hotel and company policy
  • Report maintenance issues by completing maintenance slips and follow up in maintenance work in rooms to ensure that work is completed
  • Assist in collection of used linen from the floors and sort to wash type
  • Launder and fold blankets, bedspreads and other items, handling soiled linen in accordance with health and safety requirements
  • Notify management of any repairs/alternations required to linen, terry, bedding and drapes
  • Maintain security for guests and property by ensuring guestroom doors as well as storage closets are closed and locked at all times, key cards are controlled, and lost and found articles are properly logged and securely stored
  • Report suspicious activity by guests or others and observes all security and safety measures
  • Assist in other areas of the housekeeping department as needed
