About The Position

The Boston Home is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Housekeeping Supervisor to join its Environmental Services team at a specialized long-term care community serving adults with advanced neurological conditions. The role helps maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and comfort for residents. This is a working-supervisor position: the supervisor oversees housekeeping and laundry staff and daily operations while also completing an assigned work assignment. When the Department Director is off-site, the supervisor assumes leadership responsibilities. The position includes weekend work on Saturdays and Sundays, and shifts may need to be adjusted to complete specialized cleaning projects or cover unexpected staff shortages.

Requirements

Proven supervisory experience.
Clear spoken and written communication skills to document concerns, complete supervisor checklists, and lead a diverse team.
Ability to adjust shifts as needed to complete specialized cleaning projects or supplement unexpected staff shortages.
Ability to stand for extended periods, perform deep physical labor such as stripping and waxing, and lift standard commercial cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

Manage housekeeping and laundry staff in the Department Director’s absence to keep operations running smoothly.
Oversee equipment and inventory.
Conduct routine sanitation and safety audits in resident rooms, public units, and support service areas.
Ensure daily departmental work and cleaning schedules are carried out as closely as practical.
Monitor laundry equipment and heavy machinery, and report mechanical issues directly to the Director.
Complete tasks assigned to an Environmental Services Aide as well as special projects assigned by the Director.
Complete specialized cleaning projects or supplement unexpected staffing shortages as needed.
