About The Position

This position is responsible for visually inspecting VIP rooms, guest rooms, and corridors for cleanliness and appearance. The role involves training and monitoring the performance of room attendants and housepersons, ensuring adherence to Marriott's quality standards. The supervisor will also manage inventories, maintain stock levels, and report maintenance deficiencies. Additionally, the role requires expediting special guest requests and performing other assigned duties. This is a unionized position, and any changes to the description are subject to bargaining with the union representative.

Requirements

  • Willingness to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents and operation of various cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms over head to perform cleaning tasks, and work in confined spaces.
  • Adhere to hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect VIP rooms, guest rooms and corridors for cleanliness and appearance.
  • Prepare work orders for shampooers to clean carpets and supply room attendants to maintain par stock in closets.
  • Train and monitor performance of room attendants and housepersons, providing organization, instruction, guidance, and communication.
  • Reinforce Marriott's high standards of quality.
  • Prepare work performance inspection sheets on all personnel assigned to work area and submit to the housekeeping office.
  • Ensure all jobs are completed within the shift.
  • Take requested inventories of furniture, fixtures, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ensure that both carts and linen/supply closets are kept clean, neat, and stocked according to departmental guidelines.
  • Make certain all VIP supplies are in place upon inspection of VIP rooms.
  • Report all maintenance deficiencies in guest rooms and corridors via work orders using the Marriott GXP.
  • Telephone deficiencies considered emergencies to the maintenance department.
  • Expedite special guest requests, such as extra towels, blankets, or pillows.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
  • Assist room attendants and houseperson in securing all supplies and tools necessary for the completion of their jobs as the need arises.
  • Report all suspicious persons or actions, hazardous conditions, etc. to the Security Department.
  • Respond to guest questions.
  • Provide guest assistance, directions, and information as requested.
  • Provide instruction and/or guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.
  • Assist Room Attendants when necessary.
