The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for managing the activities of the Housekeeping Department to ensure that hotel facilities, guest rooms, and public areas meet the hotel's standards. This role involves planning and organizing cleaning, assigning daily tasks, training staff, conducting inspections, managing lost and found, responding to guest requests, and ensuring health and sanitation standards are met. The manager also oversees departmental payroll and expenses, establishes administrative procedures, monitors supply inventories, determines staffing levels, and manages property procedures for guest calls and maintenance projects. Fostering open communication with internal departments, attending meetings, and maintaining a positive work environment are also key aspects of the role. The manager is expected to maintain cleanliness and organization within the department, track inspection results, complete inventories, and ensure back and front of house areas are organized and clean. Monitoring and responding to guest satisfaction surveys and addressing guest complaints are crucial. The role also includes recruiting, selecting, training, coaching, and providing performance feedback to housekeeping staff, as well as practicing safe work habits and ensuring compliance with government regulations.
