About The Position

The Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa is looking for a Housekeeping Manager to manage daily housekeeping operations. This role is responsible for supervising cleaning personnel to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive rooms in the hotel, contributing to the hotel's continuous effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in a similar position in a full-service hotel in a manager capacity is a must.
  • 6 years line level experience in all aspects of the Housekeeping Department; or equivalent level of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in Marriott Hotels or full-service hotel brand will be helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily Housekeeping operations to include, but not limited to, maintaining cleanliness, service and product quality standards of guest rooms, public spaces, restrooms, offices and banquet/meeting/conference rooms.
  • Obtain list of vacant rooms to be cleaned immediately and list of prospective checkouts in order to prepare work assignments. Advise Front Office Manager, Guest Service Agents of room ready for occupancy.
  • Assign Housekeeping Attendants their duties and inspect work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness.
  • Ensure that all team members follow safety rules and procedures. Take corrective action where required to improve safety of work areas.
  • Manage Marriott Housekeeping systems and procedures, cost controls and overall profitability, budgeting and forecasting, department management, Housekeeping standards implementation.
  • Inspect rooms, corridors and lobby, meeting and banquet rooms to determine need for repairs or replacement of furniture or equipment and makes recommendations to management.
  • Ensure guestrooms are properly secured and that proper key control procedures are utilized by the housekeeping associates.
  • Responsible for smooth function of the hotel laundry operation.
  • Assist in monitoring and developing team members performance to include but not limited to providing supervision, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward.
  • Conduct departmental orientation training for new associates and explain Stamford Marriott policies, housekeeping work procedures and demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Record data concerning work assignments, personnel actions, timesheets, and prepare periodic reports. Also prepare reports concerning occupancy, payroll expenses and department expenses.
  • Assist in controlling expenses of the Housekeeping Department.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; and complete safety training and certifications.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs, and assist individuals with disabilities.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all associates and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of all.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards of Stamford Marriott.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds.
