About The Position

The Housekeeping Inspector is responsible for regularly inspecting guest rooms, public areas, and other hotel spaces to ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper maintenance. This role involves verifying that rooms meet brand and hotel standards, reporting maintenance issues, and ensuring associates have the necessary supplies. The inspector also assists with room status reports, linen cart organization, and stocking linen closets. Additionally, this position plays a key role in training and coaching housekeeping staff, performing audits, assigning daily tasks, and resolving guest complaints. Effective communication with maintenance and leadership regarding repair needs and observed issues is crucial.

Requirements

  • Constantly pushing loaded supply cart from room to room – must be able to push 75 lbs.
  • Arranging drapery and replacement linen – approximately 20 – 30 lbs.
  • Carrying dirty linen to laundry chute, operating vacuum.
  • Constant bending and kneeling to clean bathroom, vanity and making beds.
  • Dusting requires bending to reach low areas on furniture.
  • Movement to reach all areas of responsibility to include: closet shelves, windows, ledges, pipes, under beds, behind furniture.
  • Physical stamina to stand, bend, lift and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Continuously standing and/or walking to accomplish all that is required for position.
  • Climbing stairs up to approximately 40 steps approximately 10% of work period (usually 8 hour work period).
  • Inside 100% of work period (usually 8 hours).
  • Hearing is minimal (Guest approaches with requests and questions).
  • Vision is critical (To assess required reaction to meet standards).
  • Speech is minimal (Can utilize alternate communication).
  • Literacy is minimal (Can utilize alternate training tools).
  • Standard cleaning chemicals used.
  • Safety shoes required 100% of approximate 8 hour work period.
  • Gloves approximately 20% of approximate 8 hour work period.
  • Goggles approximately 3% of approximate 8 hour work period.
  • Operation of vacuum cleaner and other cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspects guest rooms, public areas, and other hotel spaces for cleanliness, organization, and maintenance.
  • Assists with cleaning when necessary.
  • Assigns special assignments as directed by the Director of Housekeeping/Management team.
  • Checks for and reports maintenance issues, such as problems with equipment, plumbing, or structure.
  • Verifies that rooms meet brand and hotel standards and ensures all items, like linens and amenities, are correctly placed.
  • Ensures that all associates have appropriate supplies and linens.
  • Assists in processing AM and PM room status reports.
  • Ensures that the GRA's linen cart is neat and well organized.
  • Ensures that linen closets on guest room floors are completely stocked.
  • Performs opening and/or closing procedures.
  • Maintains inventory of linen and cleaning supplies/equipment.
  • Updates room status in the property management system.
  • Trains and coaches housekeeping staff on cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and proper use of equipment.
  • Assists in developing and training associates to maintain productivity and quality standards.
  • Performs MOS audits.
  • Assigns daily tasks and oversees the progress of room attendants.
  • Contributes to monthly OST meetings.
  • Resolves guest complaints and special requests.
  • Communicates with maintenance to address repair needs.
  • Communicates with leadership about patterns or recurring issues observed during inspections.
