About The Position

This role is responsible for cleaning all public guest room areas of the hotel as assigned and promoting good public relations. The Housekeeping Houseperson will report to work as scheduled, in proper uniform, and maintain a friendly, positive attitude to ensure a positive guest experience. They will follow and adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the Housekeeping Department, respond to and close requests using the proper usage of Rexx/radio, and assist room attendants by emptying trash and soiled linen from housekeeping carts. The position requires maintaining public restrooms, hotel lobby levels, ashtrays, elevators and tracks, ice machine areas, stairwells, building entrances, and hallways. The Housekeeping Houseperson will also handle guests with excellent guest relations skills, clean back-of-the-house windows, vacuum guest hallways daily, use proper cleaning chemicals, attend departmental meetings, and maintain linen closets. Additional duties include washing guest room glassware, bringing dirty glassware to housekeeping, and performing other duties as directed by management. The role also involves notifying supervisors of problems, being polite and helpful to guests and colleagues, attending meetings and training, maintaining equipment, executing emergency procedures, complying with safety regulations and hotel policies, and recycling whenever possible.

Requirements

  • Previous experience an asset.
  • Able to work as part of a dynamic quality-driven team.
  • Basic English language skills.
  • Requires extensive standing, walking, lifting and bending.
  • Able to push, stand, stoop, bend, and lift items weighing up to 150 pounds repetitively during entire shift.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be customer-service orientated and have excellent hospitality skills.

Responsibilities

  • Clean all public guest room areas of the hotel as assigned.
  • Promote good public relations.
  • Maintain a friendly positive attitude that ensures positive guest experience and giving recognition to returning guests.
  • Follow and adhere to all policies and procedures as set forth by the Housekeeping Department.
  • Respond, follow and close HotSOS and other requests when assigned to them by the proper usage of Rexx/ radio.
  • Help maintain public rest rooms, hotel lobby levels, ashtrays, elevators and tracks, ice machine areas, stairwells, building entrance and hallways at all times.
  • Handle guests with excellent guest relations skills.
  • Clean back-of-the-house windows as needed.
  • Vacuum guest hallways daily.
  • Use proper chemicals when cleaning as described by the department’s procedures.
  • Attend all departmental meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform all duties in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain linen closets clean, stock and organize.
  • Bring trash to compactor at the end of the day.
  • Responsible for washing guest room glassware and delivered to linen closets.
  • Responsible for bringing dirty glassware to housekeeping at the end of the shift.
  • Perform all other duties as directed by management that are consistent with the policies and procedures of the company.
  • Notifies immediate supervisors promptly and fully of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
  • Is polite, friendly, and helpful to the guests, management, and fellow team members.
  • Attends all appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment, and work area.
  • Executes emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Complies with safety regulations and procedures.
  • Complies with hotel policies and rules.
  • Recycles whenever possible.
  • Remains current with hotel information and changes.
  • Promotes and applies teamwork skills at all times.
  • Notifies appropriate individual promptly and fully of problems and/or unusual matters of significance.
  • Complies with hotel uniform and grooming standards.
