About The Position

The Housekeeping Houseperson represents Fairmont Century Plaza with enthusiasm and pride, providing exceptional service and attention for each guest encountered. This role is energetic and confident, and will encourage teammates to achieve and be positive. The Houseperson is entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the best possible experience for guests at all times. The Houseperson assists with the cleanliness and overall presentation of the public areas and assists Housekeepers in the cleaning and stocking of all guest rooms and maintenance of guest floor storage areas. This role also involves delivering and collecting items from guest rooms as requested.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry and transport relatively heavy equipment
  • Has a friendly, positive attitude
  • Stays calm under pressure, with an ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communicational skills
  • Basic knowledge of technology use (computer, device, radios)
  • Some high school education
  • Ability to follow instruction, work with others and work independently
  • Ability to communicate fluently with our guests
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team with minimum supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Integrity and works well when Supervisors are not present
  • Ability to manage own time efficiently
  • Ability to safely handle heavy equipment and machinery
  • Able to work safely with a variety of cleaning supplies
  • Able to use basic cleaning equipment
  • Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Highly responsible and reliable
  • Fluent in spoken English, some written English
  • Must provide proof of eligibility to be employed in the United States of America.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced and active environment preferred
  • Previous Customer Service experience an asset
  • Previous Cleaning or janitorial experience an asset
  • Spoken and written Spanish is beneficial but not required

Responsibilities

  • Consistently offers outgoing, professional and engaging service
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors
  • Manage the movement of products/equipment/materials in and/or out of main housekeeping supply rooms
  • Delivering and retrieving items to and from the guest rooms.
  • Assisting Supervisor in completion of special requests or misc. projects
  • Clean and keep orderly, all assigned public areas
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Sign in and out master keys, radios/mobile electronics daily
  • Be familiar with Hotel’s technology and communication platforms, and utilize to ensure hotel operation and guest satisfaction
  • Return and properly tag all lost and found articles in the Housekeeping Office
  • Follow all departmental policies and procedures and service standards
  • Report necessary maintenance items
  • Adhere to local and externally relevant health and safety laws and policies
  • Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
