About The Position

This position is directly responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all condos in each complex and the supervision of the Condo Room Attendants and Linen Porters. The role involves ensuring all condos are clean and available for new guests by 4:00 p.m., managing cleaning and amenity supplies, reporting maintenance issues, and thoroughly inspecting rooms after they have been cleaned by Room Attendants to ensure they meet the required standards before releasing them to the Front Desk. The supervisor must also maintain open communication with their supervisor, abide by environmental practices, monitor OSHA standards, and maintain accurate records and reports. Additionally, the role includes assisting with incoming calls, managing the Lost and Found/Uniform room, ensuring master keys and radios are returned, and maintaining the files and regulations of the housekeeping department. A key aspect of this role is to maintain and support high morale among housekeeping staff.

Requirements

  • 2 years previous supervisory experience
  • At least 21 years of age
  • A valid Michigan driver’s license
  • Insurable under the Resort’s plan
  • Ability to train and supervise others in job procedures
  • Pleasant and tactful personality
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions
  • Ability to openly support decisions/direction from GTRS management
  • Excellent multi-tasking, organization, and communication skills
  • Positive attitude at all times
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Comfortable with meeting firm deadlines
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months previous housekeeping experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the cleanliness of all condos in each complex.
  • Supervising Condo Room Attendants and Linen Porters.
  • Updating room information by notifying the housekeeping office every hour on busy days to ensure all condos are available for new guests by 4:00 p.m.
  • Informing linen porters of any cleaning or amenities supplies that are out of stock.
  • Informing the office of any dirty windows or carpets needing attention in any unit or condominium complex.
  • Completing all assignments requested.
  • Maintaining open lines of communication with the supervisor.
  • Understanding and abiding by the environmental practices of the resort.
  • Monitoring OSHA standards and promoting a safe environment for all housekeeping staff.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all rooms that are cleaned and filing them appropriately.
  • Completing and submitting any required reports or paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Ensuring all maintenance problems are called into the office and turned in to Engineering in a timely fashion.
  • Verifying that housekeeping carts and linen closets are fully stocked and cleaned.
  • Helping in any area of housekeeping where needed.
  • Being responsible for all public space in assigned areas.
  • Thoroughly inspecting each room after Room Attendants have cleaned them, ensuring rooms are cleaned to standard before releasing them to the Front Desk.
  • Consistently presenting a professional image to Grand Traverse Resort and Spa (GTRS) staff and its guests.
  • Assisting in answering incoming calls and directing them to the proper areas, and keeping an accurate phone log of all calls.
  • Assisting in the control of the Lost and Found/Uniform room.
  • Assuring that master keys, radios, and pagers are returned to the proper areas and investigating if any are missing.
  • Maintaining the files and regulations of the GTRS housekeeping department.
  • Maintaining and supporting high morale of House Persons and Room Attendants.
  • Planning, supervising, and being accountable for all employees’ daily activities.
  • Evaluating, motivating, delegating, disciplining, and counseling employees assigned.
