About The Position

The Housekeeping Assistant will perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department to ensure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe and comfortable manner. They will also provide assistance with transportation of residents to medical appointments. This position reports to the Director of Mill Street. Effective interpersonal and communication skills and a positive, friendly attitude are a priority in this position. The incumbent has limited access to confidential information and must be able to maintain confidences. The incumbent completes the work procedures and priorities within imposed time frames. A review of this description has excluded the marginal functions of this position that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. Employees will be required to follow other job-related duties as requested by their supervisor. Requirements

  • Work experience in a housekeeping and/or service-oriented profession preferred.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards the elderly is essential.
  • Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift and grasp items.
  • Ability to talk and express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word in English.
  • Ability to hear and receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Must be able to carry out repetitive motions, moving the wrists, hands and fingers.
  • Visual acuity is essential.
