About The Position

The Housekeeping Aide performs cleaning and sanitation duties in assigned areas using established schedules and prescribed methods. The role includes cleaning patient rooms and preparing them for new occupants, following isolation procedures, responding to spills, and assisting with floor finishing and carpet cleaning. The aide maintains equipment, materials, and storage areas, reports repair needs and potential hazards, participates in training, and supports Johnson Memorial Health’s Mission and Values while complying with applicable laws, standards, and organizational policies.

Responsibilities

Clean assigned areas according to established schedules and prescribed methods.
Dry- or wet-mop and vacuum rooms, floors, stairways, public areas, and other surfaces.
Collect waste and place it in designated areas or the compactor.
Damp-dust or wash furniture.
Clean and sanitize bathroom fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls.
Spot-clean walls, windows, metal surfaces, and carpets as needed.
Dispense and dilute chemicals according to approved procedures.
Clean high fixtures and surfaces using a ladder; replace, exchange, and hang window and cubicle curtains.
Perform terminal cleaning of patient rooms, prepare rooms for new occupants, and follow isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
Clean up spills, including hazardous and infectious waste, as observed or requested.
Assist with floor finishing and carpet cleaning activities.
Maintain assigned equipment, materials, and closets in an orderly and workable condition.
Move and store supplies and other heavy objects as required.
Report equipment, furniture, fixture, or building repair needs and potential hazards to the Plant Operations Department and/or Supervisor.
Participate in facility-wide and departmental in-service training.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Communicate and continuously support the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health.
Conduct activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures, and Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
