About The Position

HI Vancouver Jericho Beach is a seasonal hostel, open from May to September, located near parkland with forest trails and seaside paths on Vancouver's Westside. It offers a casual, flexible workplace with opportunities to interact with guests, making it a great place to meet new friends and experience Vancouver. Subsidized housing is available in the staff dorm, and guests can borrow bikes and other sporting goods.

Requirements

  • Prior housekeeping experience is an asset
  • Proficient multi-tasking abilities
  • The ability to work well independently and as a team member
  • Ability to carry loads of linen up and down the stairs
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts
  • Must be in a state of fitness that allows you to spend 6-7 hours on your feet every day.
  • Must enjoy working as part of a team and bringing positive energy and humour to work every day.
  • Must take pride in whatever you do and understand the importance of the Housekeeping department.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a team to maintain the interior and exterior cleanliness of the hostel.
  • Clean all guestrooms efficiently and effectively to ensure they are ready for check-in time.
  • Ensure all common areas, washrooms, showers and hallways are cleaned to our standard.
  • Follow the hostel cleaning schedule.
  • Communicate regularly with the Housekeeping Supervisor and the Night Auditor to ensure rooms are cleaned as needed.
  • Perform laundry duties such as collecting linens and towels, washing, folding, and putting them away.
