About The Position

The Housekeeper cleans public and patient areas in the medical center on a routine basis to provide a clean aesthetic environment. The role also performs special functions as assigned and required by the Environmental Services Coordinator. The Housekeeper follows departmental cleaning procedures and safety and sanitation guidelines, maintains areas and equipment, and supports patient satisfaction through thorough and consistent cleaning. The role adapts to changing routines and workflow, works cooperatively with staff inside and outside the department, and keeps current with required in-services.

Responsibilities

Follow all departmental cleaning procedures and safety and sanitation guidelines.
Clean assigned areas thoroughly and consistently, with few or no discrepancies, and strive to meet patient satisfaction goals.
Assist others when census in their area is low.
Use Wet Floor signs and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Perform turnover activities rapidly and accurately.
Use downtime to improve unit appearance, accept additional assignments, and seek work outside the scheduled area.
Complete daily schedules and assigned project work, and initiate project work.
Implement procedures to increase productivity and assess daily workflow, making changes as needed.
Maintain equipment, including changing vacuum bags and filters.
Keep the housekeeping closet, mop sink, and cart neat and orderly, and leave carts stocked for the next day.
Maintain knowledge of duties, chemicals, equipment, and the locations of support areas.
Respond resourcefully and effectively to stressful situations and emergencies, and adapt to changing routines.
Coordinate and cooperate with staff at all levels, inside and outside the department.
Stay current on and attend required in-services and demonstrate competency in them.
