About The Position

The Housekeeper cleans public and patient areas in the medical center on a routine basis to provide a clean, aesthetically pleasing environment. The role also performs special functions and other work assigned or required by the Environmental Services Coordinator. Housekeepers follow departmental cleaning procedures and safety and sanitation guidelines, maintain cleaning equipment and supplies, complete assigned project work, and adapt to changing routines and workflow needs. The position requires coordination and cooperation with staff throughout and beyond the department.

Responsibilities

Clean public and patient areas routinely and thoroughly, following departmental procedures and safety and sanitation guidelines.
Use wet-floor signs and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Perform turnover activities rapidly and accurately, and work to meet patient satisfaction goals.
Assist coworkers when workload in their area is low; use downtime to improve unit appearance and accept additional assignments.
Complete daily schedules and assigned project work, and initiate project work as appropriate.
Seek work beyond the regular schedule and implement procedures to increase productivity.
Maintain equipment, including changing vacuum bags and filters.
Keep the housekeeping closet, mop sink, and cart neat and orderly; stock carts for the next day.
Assess daily workflow and make changes as needed.
Maintain knowledge of duties, chemicals, equipment, and support-area locations; stay current on and demonstrate competency in in-services.
Respond resourcefully and effectively to stressful situations and emergencies, and adapt to changing routines.
Coordinate efforts and cooperate with staff at all levels, both inside and outside the department.
