A housekeeper in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) provides essential cleaning, sanitation, and infection control to ensure a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for residents. Key duties include sanitizing resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas, managing waste, cleaning floors, and restocking supplies, often while interacting with elderly residents.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning of resident rooms, bathrooms, nurses' stations, and common areas (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting).
  • Utilize proper sanitizing solutions and protocols to disinfect surfaces and prevent the spread of germs, particularly when handling bodily fluids.
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize rooms upon a resident's discharge, transfer, or passing.
  • Keep hallways clear of hazardous objects, mop up spills, and ensure cleaning carts are organized and safe.
  • Empty, clean, and sanitize trash containers and ash trays daily.
  • Change bed linens, towels, and curtains as scheduled or needed.
  • Respect resident privacy, treat personal belongings with care, and maintain a pleasant, supportive demeanor.
