About The Position

The Housekeeper's role within a long-term care facility is to maintain a safe, orderly, and clean environment, free of obstacles and odors. This involves ensuring all public and common areas, resident rooms, and bathrooms are kept to a high standard of cleanliness. The position requires adherence to safety protocols when using cleaning supplies and equipment, and prompt reporting of any safety issues or supply needs. Excellent customer service, time-management, and teamwork skills are essential.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or a GED.
  • Ability to read and understand procedure and instruction manuals and directions.
  • Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Excellent customer skills and positive attitude.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a long-term care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all public and common areas throughout the day including lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains and floors.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms.
  • Maintain handrails to ensure they are clean and free of debris.
  • Clean and remove dust, dirt or food off walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, and towel dispensers.
  • Empty trash cans and replace liners.
  • Sweep and mop floors.
  • Utilize proper safety measures when cleaning, including the use of caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of reach of the residents.
  • Use supplies and equipment in a safe manner by following the user manual instructions.
  • Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment and storage areas in a safe, sanitary, clean and orderly manner.
  • Notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety issues or concerns.
  • Notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies are needing replenished.
