Housekeeper - Senior Living- PRN
About The Position
Cantata Adult Life Services, a nonprofit, mission-driven senior living community in Brookfield, Illinois, is seeking a Housekeeper. The role helps maintain a clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, families, visitors, and staff. Housekeeping services should be provided courteously and with respect for residents’ dignity, privacy, preferences, and personal belongings. The Housekeeper cleans resident apartments and rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, and other assigned spaces; performs routine surface, floor, and fixture cleaning; and disinfects frequently touched areas. Duties also include waste disposal, linen replacement, assigned laundry tasks, replenishing supplies, and maintaining clean, organized, and secure carts, storage areas, and equipment. The role follows infection-prevention procedures and facility rules for safely using, labeling, and storing cleaning products and equipment. The Housekeeper reports maintenance and safety issues, equipment damage, spills, and resident concerns, responds courteously to requests, coordinates with other departments, completes tasks on time, and participates in required training and meetings.
Requirements
- Dependable, organized, and attentive to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions, manage daily assignments, and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong customer service skills and a caring, respectful approach to working with older adults.
- Ability to perform essential duties, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and pushing cleaning carts, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- Previous housekeeping experience, ideally in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Clean resident apartments, rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, and other assigned spaces according to established schedules.
- Dust furniture and fixtures; vacuum carpets; sweep and mop floors; and clean mirrors, windows, and other surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, handrails, door handles, and other frequently touched surfaces.
- Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables in designated areas.
- Replace linens, make beds, and assist with laundry duties as assigned.
- Replenish housekeeping supplies, including soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue.
- Follow infection-prevention procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Safely use, label, and store cleaning products, supplies, and equipment according to facility procedures.
- Keep housekeeping carts, storage areas, and equipment clean, organized, and secure.
- Promptly report maintenance needs, damaged equipment, spills, and other safety concerns.
- Report unusual observations or resident concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Respond courteously to housekeeping requests and coordinate with other departments to support resident needs.
- Complete assigned tasks on time and participate in required training and meetings.
