About The Position

Women Against Abuse (WAA), a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency, is among the largest domestic violence agencies in the country and Philadelphia's leading domestic violence advocate and service provider. With over 170 staff, WAA serves (2 100 bed safe havens and 15 transitional housing apartments), legal services, hotline counseling, aftercare community-based services, prevention & education, and advocacy. The mission of WAA is to provide quality, compassionate and non-judgmental services in a manner that fosters self-respect and independence in persons experiencing intimate partner violence through advocacy and community education. Requirements

• A High School Diploma or the equivalent
• Previous experience janitorial and/or housekeeping (experience in a residential setting is strongly preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member
• The ability to read, understand and communicate in English
• Demonstrated commitment to service of others is required
• Satisfactorily pass State & FBI criminal & Child Abuse clearances pre-hire; and regular renewals (all expenses paid by WAA)

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual or conversational in addition to English preferred

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall cleanliness within our safe havens, including resident rooms and administrative offices/spaces.
• Assist in related projects or tasks as assigned.
• Emptying trash, dusting, spot cleaning, sanitizing community areas.
• Vacuuming and shampooing rugs/carpets.
• Dry and wet mopping.
• Cleaning bathrooms.
• Giving bedrooms a complete deep cleaning prior to new residents arriving and after residents depart.
• Prepare client's bedroom and/or apartment units during turnover, including deep cleaning before new residents move in and after residents leave.
