About The Position

The Housekeeper is responsible for carrying out all cleaning duties as directed by the Maintenance Director, adhering to department policies and procedures. This role ensures that daily and deep cleaning schedules are met, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and resident care. The position requires careful use and maintenance of cleaning equipment, adherence to infection control and safety protocols, and respectful treatment of residents. The Housekeeper will perform a variety of cleaning tasks in resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas, including dusting, polishing, vacuuming, mopping, and waste disposal. They will also assist with linen distribution, supply management, and terminal cleaning of rooms, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and promptly. Confidentiality of resident information and reporting of any occupational exposures are critical aspects of this role.

  • Ability to dust furniture, woodwork, equipment and dust-mop floors.
  • Ability to polish and clean fixtures in rooms and bathrooms.
  • Ability to operate environmental services equipment (e.g., vacuums, floor cleaners, buffers, shampooers, etc.).
  • Ability to mop rooms, halls and other areas; shampoo rugs and furniture.
  • Ability to clean vents, fan fixtures, top of windows, door frames and other high surfaces.
  • Ability to gather and dispose of trash and waste materials.
  • Ability to move furniture and other heavy objects as required.
  • Ability to perform terminal cleaning procedures of resident rooms and prepare rooms for new admissions.
  • Ability to follow isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
  • Ability to clean and disinfect all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors and walls of bathrooms.
  • Ability to make supply packs for departments and put linen stacks in linen closets.
  • Ability to take supply requests and deliver them.
  • Ability to deliver linen to departments.
  • Ability to keep work areas neat and orderly.
  • Ability to clean equipment.
  • Ability to treat all residents with dignity and respect.
  • Ability to promote and protect all residents’ rights.
  • Ability to follow appropriate safety and hygiene measures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information.

Responsibilities

  • Reports any defect to the Maintenance Director.
  • Practices sensitivity to the privacy and individual needs of the residents.
  • Adheres to infection control policies at all times.
  • Adheres to correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Ensures all necessary documentation is completed daily.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Dusts furniture, woodwork, equipment and dust-mops floors.
  • Polishes and cleans fixtures in rooms and bathrooms.
  • Operates environmental services equipment (e.g., vacuums, floor cleaners, buffers, shampooers, etc.).
  • Mops rooms, halls and other areas; shampoos rugs and furniture.
  • Cleans vents, fan fixtures, top of windows, door frames and other high surfaces.
  • Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials using specified bags and containers.
  • Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required.
  • Performs terminal cleaning procedures of resident rooms and prepares rooms for new admissions; follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
  • Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors and walls of bathrooms.
  • Makes supply packs for departments and puts linen stacks in linen closets for distribution.
  • Takes supply requests and delivers them.
  • Delivers linen to departments according to pre-established par levels and schedules.
  • Keeps work areas neat and orderly, cleans equipment and assists with other cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Treats all residents with dignity and respect.
  • Promotes and protects all residents’ rights.
  • Follow appropriate safety and hygiene measures at all times to protect residents and themselves.
  • Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications.
  • Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of practice and abilities.
