About The Position

The Housekeeper is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the designated YMCA facility. This role involves performing daily cleaning tasks, maintaining cleaning equipment and supplies, and interacting positively with members and staff. The Housekeeper must also report any maintenance issues and follow all safety and cleaning chemical guidelines.

Requirements

Previous experience in commercial housekeeping required.
CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
Must be 18 years of age.
Must be able to effectively communicate with members and YMCA staff.
Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance
Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
Customer-oriented and friendly
Prioritization and time management skills
Working quickly without compromising quality
Must be able to read and understand cleaning product and equipment instructions and apply them effectively.
Demonstrate commitment to the mission, cause of the YMCA, and uphold its values and ethics.

Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect. All employees are required to follow the child abuse and neglect reporting process: completion of Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect reporting form, calling children protective services (696-Kids) and notifying your immediate supervisor, branch executive, risk management and human resources department (s).

Nice To Haves

High School diploma preferred.
Any Janitorial, Custodial or Floor Maintenance certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform daily cleaning of assigned facility including but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing restrooms & locker rooms, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, trash removal, window cleaning, trash pickup and removal, spill cleanup, floor cleaning and maintenance in all areas of the Y.
Maintain all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products; ensure safe and sanitary storage and care of products
In charge of vacuuming equipment; vacuums and cleans carpets, performs further treatments such as shampoo or stain-removal as needed
Ensure all directions for cleaning chemicals and supplies are followed as directed.
Responsible for ensuring proper supply levels are maintained, as well as reporting all inventory and/or supply needs to supervisor in a timely manner to ensure the cleanliness of the facility.
Interacts with members and staff in a positive, professional manner that supports our cause.
Report any maintenance issues or concerns to supervisor immediately.
Assist and/or perform projects of a special nature.
Must be able to read, and write legibly and in an understandable manner.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
