About The Position

The Housekeeper helps create a joyful and vibrant community by maintaining a beautiful environment, keeping the community tidy, clean, sanitary, and pleasing to the senses. Essential job functions include supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents. The role involves performing day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and ensuring that assigned work areas are kept clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive. The housekeeper must follow established safety precautions and Infection Control practices, and be capable of operating and maintaining all housekeeping/laundry equipment. They must also be able to work safely, recognize potentially dangerous situations, and attend required meetings and trainings, staying current on assigned tasks and duties. Other tasks and duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Pass a criminal background and fingerprint check.
  • Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.
  • Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
  • Ability to work independently (with minimum supervision).
  • Maintains current food handler’s card.

Responsibilities

  • Supports dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.
  • Performs the day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
  • Ensures that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner.
  • Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
  • Follows established Infection Control practices when performing housekeeping procedures.
  • Operates and maintains all housekeeping/laundry equipment (i.e., commercial washer/dryer, buffing machines, etc.).
  • Works safely and recognizes potentially dangerous situations.
  • Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings.
  • Stays current on system assigned tasks and duties.
  • Performs other tasks/duties as assigned.
