About The Position

The Housekeeper role is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment within patient rooms, corridors, and public areas. This includes daily cleaning, sanitizing, and terminal cleaning to ensure an aesthetically pleasing and safe atmosphere for patients and staff.

  • Must possess the four acute faculties of: sight, hearing, touch, and smell.

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning of patient rooms, corridors, and public areas to ensure a sanitary and aesthetically pleasing environment.
  • Sanitize patient rooms, corridors, and public areas.
  • Conduct terminal cleaning in patient rooms, surgery, cath lab, and other areas to maintain a sanitary environment.
  • Properly use chemicals and supplies as defined by departmental policy, accepting responsibility for supply usage and equipment care.
  • Demonstrate proper hand hygiene technique and the correct use of personal protective equipment, especially gloves.
  • Use appropriate safety equipment for assigned tasks.
  • Understand and comply with all isolation room procedures and related infection control practices.
  • Understand and comply with the Blood-borne Pathogen standard policies and procedures.
  • Report violations of compliance with all policies to management.
  • Adhere strictly to departmental policies and procedures regarding general safety, infection control, chemical hygiene, and biohazardous waste.
  • Ensure the quality of work meets high expectations with attention to detail, keeping work areas neat and orderly.
  • Complete daily assignment worksheets and turn them into management.
  • Communicate effectively with the management team regarding job performance and productivity.
  • Attend all work-related in-service training and meetings and apply training within the work environment.
  • Continually strive to increase job/task knowledge.
  • Perform all other tasks/responsibilities as necessary.
