About The Position

Distinctive Living is seeking a Housekeeper for their Mira Vie at West Milford Community. This role is responsible for housekeeping and laundry functions within the community, including cleaning apartments and common areas, providing laundry services, carpet care, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in a cleaning or housekeeping role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to communicate verbally in person and over the phone.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic apartment cleaning of bathroom fixtures and floors, including dusting, vacuuming, sheet and linen changing, bed making, and bathroom cleaning (toilets, sinks, showers, mirrors, floors).
  • Avoid disturbing residents' belongings and respect their privacy.
  • Remove linens from beds for cleaning and return them to residents.
  • Make beds with clean linens according to resident preferences.
  • Log cleaning activities as required by procedures.
  • Change residents' bedding and linens weekly as part of their monthly rent; offer more frequent changes for an additional fee upon resident request.
  • Maintain linen inventory to accommodate weekly changes and schedules for washing, drying, and following of linens.
  • Interact with residents in a friendly manner, providing meaningful attention.
  • Communicate concerns regarding resident's health to management as appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean building in all common areas, including main entry, alternative entries, reception area, corridors, bathrooms, activity rooms, and the dining room.
  • Clean floors including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc.
  • Properly set up and remove caution and safety signs to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
  • Clean carpets including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
  • Clean public restrooms, including washing, sanitizing, and/or polishing bathroom fixtures, and ensuring water marks are removed from fixtures.
  • Remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
  • Handle hazardous cleaning supplies according to proper procedures and ensure accurate labeling.
  • Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs.
  • Respond appropriately to resident emergencies by calling or contacting appropriate internal and external parties.
  • Assist with disaster management efforts and activities during evacuations (e.g., fires, hurricanes).
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, federal, and licensing rules and regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, and labor laws.
  • Immediately discuss any issues raised by regulators with the management company.
  • Work in a safe manner and ensure unsafe actions are brought to the attention of the Executive Director.
  • Comply with Safety Committee Standards.
  • Notify the Executive Director of any workplace injuries and follow all procedures for treatment, investigation, and return to work.
  • Foster teamwork with co-workers, show initiative, assist others beyond job responsibilities, and have a positive impact on co-workers, residents, and visitors.
  • Develop basic knowledge of the organization to answer basic questions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
