About The Position

Forest View Hospital, a private 108-bed psychiatric facility serving children, adolescents, and adults, is seeking qualified applicants for a Full-Time Housekeeper position. The hospital has over 45 years of experience in behavioral health evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. The Housekeeper, under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, will be responsible for cleaning all areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, clinical areas, assessment rooms, break rooms, outpatient areas, restrooms, and corridors, in accordance with hospital procedures. The position involves performing routine and terminal cleaning, using appropriate chemicals and equipment, transporting waste, replenishing supplies, and adhering to infection control practices. The role requires the ability to work independently with supervision, apply common sense understanding, read equipment instructions, clean floors, and cooperate with other personnel. The Housekeeper will also attend to patient and staff needs courteously and may work various shifts as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of hospital environmental services/housekeeping preferred.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations
  • Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude
  • Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work
  • Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner

Responsibilities

  • Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department.
  • Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and corridors in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.
  • Performs terminal/detailed cleaning of patient rooms when required to ensure a germ-free environment and to enhance patient and employee safety.
  • Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Uses the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
  • Uses and maintains equipment properly.
  • Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
  • Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors.
  • Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
  • Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
  • Replenishes cleaning supplies.
  • Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and isolation precautions.
  • Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
  • Ability to do work on their own with normal supervision, adhering to safety precautions at all times.
  • Demonstrates the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment operational instructions.
  • Cleans and maintains carpet and tiled floors as needed.
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintaining a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Attends to both patient and staff housekeeping needs in a courteous manner.
  • Works day, evening or night shifts as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
