About The Position

Cleans resident apartments and rooms, baths, offices, halls, and other areas by performing the following duties in the following manner: Essential Duties, Attitudes and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Follows the Glenmeadow Pledge. Specifically you are expected to: Respect and maintain residents’ rights and confidentiality. Appropriately greet all Glenmeadow customers. Be courteous, kind and thoughtful. Go out of your way to find ways to make life better for those we serve. Work well with other employees at Glenmeadow including your teammates, your supervisor and members of other departments. Be a person who finds solutions for problems and shares those solutions with the appropriate people in a professional manner. Remember special individual cleaning requests and complete them without asking. Take pride in your work. 2. Displays Good Cleaning Skills. Specifically you are expected to: Keep utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition. Sweep and mop floors. Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies. Dust furniture and equipment. Polish metalwork. Wash walls, ceilings and woodwork. Wash windows, door panels and sills. Empty wastebaskets & transports trash to disposal area. Make beds for residents needing assistance. Put away clean laundry. Keep common areas clean and organized. Use the correct cleaning solutions for each job. Use the tools of the job correctly. Be careful with fragile items and do not have excessive breakage. Participate in Spring and Fall cleanings. Perform other duties as assigned. 3. Consistent/Reliable. Specifically you are expected to: Establish a track record of quality so that the supervisor and customers have a high degree of confidence that the assignment will be completed thoroughly. Follow through with special assignments. Complete your assigned workload. Typically, this will be 4-6 apartments per day. Become familiar with ALU Laundry and commercial machines to work in the event that the Laundry Aide is absent. 4. Safety Awareness and Follow-Through. Specifically you are expected to: Be concerned with safety. Follow safety protocol to reduce the chance of self-injury. Work hard to keep residents safe by staying aware of cords, tools, (vacuums, brooms, etc.) wet floors or other hazards that could increase the chance of a resident falling. Work hard to make the living space of a resident hygienic and clean. Follow safety regulations, infection control, and universal precaution procedures at all times. Be concerned about germs. Uses gloves when working with cleaning products and when cleaning bathrooms and kitchen. Report unsafe or unsanitary conditions to your supervisor. Use the correct cleaning solutions for each job. Use the tools of the job correctly. 5. Attendance. Specifically you are expected to: Come to work on time. Follow the appropriate call out procedure if unable to be at work. Use accrued time appropriately without excessive call-outs. Attend 10 in-services annually. Attend quarterly team meetings. Be flexible in filling in for others or picking up extra work.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform calculations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Knowledge of infection control and universal precautions.
  • Ability to relate well to all geriatric residents, including the emotionally upset.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.
  • Ability to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to climb or balance.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
