About The Position

This is a temporary position with the NC State Bureau of Investigation located at 3600 Smarcand Road, Jackson Springs - Moore County. The agency aims to provide a solid Human Resource management foundation, responsible oversight, and creative solutions through a collaborative approach with all stakeholders to maximize the potential of its employees. Temporary employees may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) if they work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week. Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their current position to work in a temporary role. All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time. Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified. OSHR supports the Governor's Job Ready initiative and seeks to expand temporary skill sets to enhance qualifications for State government and private sector jobs. Exposure to an agency's culture, processes, procedures, and potential learning opportunities can provide valuable experience for those seeking permanent employment with the state.

Requirements

  • Education and/or experience in housekeeping work that is directly related to the job.
  • Must be able to perform medium- to heavy-duty physical work.
  • Must be able to extend arms over head, lift mop buckets, and push heavy carts.
  • Must be able to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to move or slide heavy furniture up to 200 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Follow a work schedule that covers all phases of housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Clean dorm rooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas.
  • Clean ceilings, vents, and walls.
  • Polish furniture.
  • Dust and vacuum.
  • Maintain floors including mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing.
  • Shampoo carpets.
  • Wash windows, screens, and blinds.
  • Clean and change soiled or worn linen, pillows, and bed covers.
  • Replenish restrooms with towels, toilet paper, and soap.
  • Clean lavatories, commodes, urinals, mirrors, showers, and tubs.
  • Remove trash from receptacles in all areas including from up to 55-gallon containers.
  • Climb four-foot ladders to clean windows, stock laundry cabinets and dust.
  • Move or slide heavy furniture up to 200 pounds.
