About The Position

The Housekeeper (Room Attendant) is responsible for cleaning guest rooms to hotel standards, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant experience for guests. This role involves detailed cleaning of rooms and bathrooms, managing cleaning supplies, and reporting any maintenance issues. The position requires adherence to hotel policies, safety procedures, and efficient time management to complete assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Must be able to clean chairs, tables, dressers, and inside all drawers.
  • Must be able to check behind dressers for trash.
  • Must be able to replace paperwork.
  • Must be able to clean spots and scuff marks from carpets and walls.
  • Must be able to sweep carpet edges.
  • Must be able to clean dirty vent covers.
  • Must be able to clean doors, door frames, and kick plates.
  • Must be able to vacuum all carpets daily.
  • Must be able to spray a deodorizer in every room.
  • Must be able to report maintenance issues.
  • Must be able to sweep bathroom floors and remove hair.
  • Must be able to scrub down walls behind tub/shower combinations.
  • Must be able to scrub down bathtubs.
  • Must be able to clean toilets inside and out.
  • Must be able to clean mirrors with glass cleaner.
  • Must be able to clean sinks.
  • Must be able to clean faucets and fixtures.
  • Must be able to clean coffee makers and coffee pots.
  • Must be able to clean ice buckets.
  • Must be able to clean Kleenex boxes and toilet paper holders.
  • Must be able to replace glasses.
  • Must be able to replace amenities.
  • Must be able to wash and dry trash cans.
  • Must be able to abide by payroll policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of hotel safety and security procedures.
  • Must be able to report unusual occurrences and/or requests to the supervisor/MOD.
  • Must be able to read and abide by all regulations and rules.
  • Literacy is critical for analyzing report data, preparing reports, and initiating correspondence.

Responsibilities

  • Clean up to 16 rooms per 8-hour shift.
  • Adhere to a strict policy of no TV, radios, or cell phones during work shifts.
  • Take two 10-minute breaks during the shift.
  • Report to the supervisor upon completion of room assignments.
  • Report any clean and unused rooms, as well as 'No Service' (NS) rooms.
  • Load cleaning cart with necessary supplies (sheets, pillow cases, towels, etc.).
  • Push loaded cleaning carts, which weigh between 75-80 pounds.
  • Dust all cobwebs from ceiling to floor, including behind drapes.
  • Change bed linen daily for stay-overs and check-outs.
  • Check and change rollaway beds and cribs as needed.
  • Inspect bedspreads and blankets for stains and send to laundry if necessary.
  • Dust all furniture, including picture frames, mirror frames, dressers (inside and outside), desks, etc.
  • Clean mirrors, TV screens, and the interior of windows and window sills.
  • Clean chairs, tables, dressers, and the inside of all drawers, checking behind dressers for trash.
  • Replace any missing or tattered paperwork (literature, stationary, guest directories).
  • Clean spots and scuff marks from carpets and walls.
  • Sweep carpet edges.
  • Clean dirty vent covers.
  • Clean inside and outside of doors, including door frames and kick plates.
  • Vacuum all carpets in the room daily.
  • Spray a deodorizer in every room.
  • Report all maintenance issues to the housekeeping supervisor.
  • Sweep bathroom floors and remove hair.
  • Scrub down the wall behind the tub/shower combination, rinse with hot water, and use a squeegee.
  • Scrub down the bathtub, rinse with hot water, and use a squeegee.
  • Clean the toilet inside the bowl, under the rim, flush, and clean the entire outside of the toilet, then towel dry.
  • Clean mirrors with glass cleaner, ensuring they are spot and streak-free.
  • Clean sinks with all-purpose cleaner and dry.
  • Clean faucets and fixtures, ensuring they are spot-free.
  • Clean coffee makers and wash/dry coffee pots.
  • Clean ice buckets, washing and drying if used.
  • Clean Kleenex boxes and toilet paper holders, ensuring adequate supplies.
  • Replace glasses, ensuring they are free of spots and not broken.
  • Replace amenities such as guest soap, shampoo, shower caps, towels, and glasses.
  • Wash and dry all trash cans and ensure every trash can has a liner.
  • Abide by payroll policies, procedures (punch in/punch out), and rules of conduct.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all hotel safety and security procedures.
  • Report any unusual occurrences and/or requests to the immediate supervisor/MOD.
  • Read and abide by all regulations and rules.
