About The Position

This is a part-time Household Manager role focusing on housekeeping and meal preparation. The family seeks an organized, proactive, and reliable individual to maintain a calm, orderly, and well-supported home environment. The role involves managing household upkeep, organization systems, deep cleaning, laundry, meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, running errands, managing household supplies, occasional vehicle upkeep, vendor oversight, and providing light family support including occasional childcare assistance. The ideal candidate will take ownership of responsibilities, anticipate needs, and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization without constant direction. This position requires a warm, steady presence, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while being considerate of a work-from-home environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a smoke-free environment.
  • Create and maintain organization systems and improve existing ones.
  • Perform daily resets and tidying, including dishes, counters, and high-traffic vacuuming.
  • Conduct thorough weekly cleaning of bathrooms, floors, surfaces, and high-traffic areas.
  • Manage linen rotation for beds and seasonal swaps for clothing, decor, and bedding.
  • Prepare for occasional events, holidays, and guest stays, including guest linens.
  • Unpack after family travel.
  • Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks such as fridge clean-outs, oven cleaning, and baseboard cleaning.
  • Refresh and reset high-congestion zones like garages, mudrooms, and entryways.
  • Undertake organizational projects for various household areas.
  • Manage all aspects of laundry, including washing, folding, organizing, and putting away.
  • Handle special garment care, steaming, and ironing as needed.
  • Plan and prepare 2-3 family dinners per week, either fully cooked or prep-ready.
  • Provide snack support with pre-cut fruits and ready-to-eat containers.
  • Perform grocery shopping, adhering to dietary preferences and kitchen safety, including strict shellfish avoidance.
  • Handle kitchen clean-up and maintenance after meal preparation.
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies, monitoring inventory levels.
  • Maintain running household supply lists and manage household ordering/subscriptions.
  • Handle returns and dry cleaning.
  • Manage recycling and cardboard flow for pickup.
  • Assist with light mail and package handling.
  • Occasionally schedule maintenance for the family vehicle.
  • Occasionally research and coordinate home repairs, quotes, and vendor scheduling.
  • Support seasonal property maintenance planning and help manage outdoor spaces.
  • Provide occasional emergency pick-up/drop-off support for children.
  • Partner with parents to create and maintain age-appropriate routines and chore systems.
  • Offer light supervision/back-up childcare when both adults are unavailable.
  • Handle kid-related errands.
  • Provide occasional evening babysitting after trust is established.
