About The Position

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Household Manager to maintain our historic home in Indianapolis. This part-time role involves managing vendors, overseeing household organization and maintenance, running errands, handling laundry, pet care, and vehicle management. The ideal candidate is an independent, positive, and warm individual who can anticipate needs and ensure the smooth operation of our household. This position offers a flexible weekday schedule and the opportunity to become a positive presence in our family's daily rhythm.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary point of contact for all household vendors including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, landscaping, and pool maintenance.
  • Research and coordinate quotes for repairs and projects, providing recommendations.
  • Handle episodic property issues that arise with our historic home.
  • Oversee weekly house cleaner and other contractors.
  • Coordinate occasionally with our vacation home’s house manager as needed.
  • Maintain and improve existing organizational systems throughout the home, including garage and basement.
  • Perform daily resets including dishes, vacuuming high-traffic areas, and light tidying.
  • Prep home for weekly cleaners.
  • Manage seasonal decoration swaps and takedown.
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs.
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors as needed.
  • Perform deep cleaning of refrigerator and oven as needed.
  • Clean humidifiers and air purifiers.
  • Break down and recycle delivery boxes.
  • Restock all household supplies, maintain running lists, and place orders or shop as needed.
  • Handle mail and package management.
  • Manage dry cleaner pickup and drop-off.
  • Perform occasional errands like grocery shopping or pharmacy runs.
  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry.
  • Wash dog beds monthly.
  • Schedule vet and grooming appointments for the golden retriever.
  • Monitor and maintain pet food supply.
  • Coordinate dog care when the family travels.
  • Drop off and pick up vehicles for service; manage loaner cars.
  • Track registration and insurance for family's vehicles and boats.
  • Stock indoor and outdoor beverage fridges, including the guest house kitchen, for meetings and events/hosting as needed.
  • Bring in outdoor cushions at the end of the season and tidy outdoor spaces for guests.
