About The Position

This is a part-time Household Manager & Family Assistant role for a busy, warm, and energetic family of five in North Dallas. The family has three children with active schedules and a fast-paced household. One parent travels frequently, and the other manages the household. A live-in nanny handles many tasks but does not drive. This role is collaborative, complementing the existing household support. The family also has two rescue dogs who are central to family life. The home environment is described as full, lively, and loving, with a focus on creating a positive and comfortable atmosphere for everyone working there.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Reliable personal transportation required; mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (including MMR and Tdap), subject to applicable legal accommodations.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
  • Fragrance-free required due to allergies in the home.
  • Comfortable working in and around a home with a pool.
  • Ability to navigate multiple flights of stairs throughout the day and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to physically walk two strong, energetic dogs using correction equipment ( prong collar and e-collar).
  • Comfort with medium to large rescue dogs (including sensitivity with anxious temperaments).
  • Emotionally intelligent, friendly, and easy to be around, but able to focus deeply and maintain professionalism.
  • Present with the kids and playful when appropriate, but also able to enforce boundaries.
  • Natural self-starter with a point of view on systems and implementation.
  • Ability to move well in a fast-paced environment and adapt when plans change.
  • Comfortable working alongside other household support without friction and ability to collaborate.
  • Tech-comfortable enough to check and use a shared household calendar to anticipate needs.
  • Genuinely love dogs and understand they may need extra patience.
  • Equally happy and comfortable folding laundry, prepping dinner, walking dogs, and running errands.
  • Must be physically capable of walking strong dogs using correction equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with school and activity pickups and drop-offs across multiple schools each weekday afternoon.
  • Provide engaging, age-appropriate supervision for three children.
  • Support after-school routines: homework accountability, personal care, winding down from activities.
  • Help prep backpacks, snacks, and gear for after-school sports and activities.
  • Willingness to provide occasional morning drop-off or overnight support when parents travel, with advance notice and for additional hourly payment.
  • Grocery shopping (in-store preferred for produce quality).
  • Plan weekly meal menu for breakfasts, snacks, and dinners, maintaining awareness of family schedules (e.g. when one parent is traveling) to appropriately plan portion sizes.
  • Prep fresh, healthy dinners Monday through Thursday: family-friendly, organic when possible.
  • Batch-prep quick, healthy breakfasts ahead of time.
  • Prepare after-school snacks using whole, fresh ingredients kids will actually enjoy.
  • Kitchen clean-up and ongoing maintenance.
  • Proactively reset home daily: declutter counters, mudroom, desks, mail area, and other high-traffic zones, returning items to their proper place.
  • Create and maintain organizational systems throughout the home with a clear point of view on how things should flow and evolve as kids age.
  • Create and manage an organizational system for processing incoming school papers, mail and packages: open, sort by category, put away appropriately and flag items needing action.
  • Light tidying in collaboration with existing household support.
  • Manage seasonal clothing transitions and closet maintenance for all three children, proactively sorting by size and rotating out items that no longer fit.
  • Coordinate and drop off donations and distribute hand-me-downs.
  • Assist with event, holiday, and guest prep as needed.
  • Assist with packing and unpacking for family travel.
  • Proactively track and replace batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors.
  • Manage organization of family laundry: fold, hang, and put away all items in the correct place.
  • Perform special garment care as needed (e.g. hang drying, ironing, steaming, and stain treatment).
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well stocked.
  • Walk both dogs daily, following family training protocols with proper correction equipment (prong collar, e-collar) – must be physically capable of walking strong dogs using correction equipment.
  • Scoop poop as needed.
  • Schedule and transport to vet and grooming appointments.
  • Administer medications as needed.
  • Maintain pet supplies.
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies throughout the home.
  • Manage shared running household shopping lists for groceries and supplies.
  • Manage household orders and flag items that need reordering.
  • Run miscellaneous errands as needed, including: returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping, etc.
  • Mail and package intake and processing.
  • Break down and dispose of cardboard boxes.
  • Manage ongoing organization of high-use areas throughout the home: mudroom, garage drop zones, storage spaces, and catch-all areas (e.g. desks).
  • Clean out and organize storage spaces as ongoing project when time allows (e.g. storm shelter and water heater room).
  • Serve as on-site point of contact for contractors, landscapers, and service providers.
  • Coordinate repairs using existing list of preferred vendors and gather quotes as needed for new home repairs.
  • Schedule exterminator appointments (wasps, ants, etc.) as needed.
  • Build and maintain a seasonal home maintenance calendar.
  • Monitor and actively use shared household calendar (Skylight) to anticipate upcoming needs — gifts, appointments, prep items — without being asked.
  • Assist with appointment and event scheduling and coordination.
  • Receipt and basic budget tracking for on-the-job expenses.
