About The Position

This position is responsible for all duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including sorting wares, examining product for condition, and ensuring the best possible price is listed on each item. The role involves processing hard goods such as wares, electrical items, furniture, books, shoes, and accessories. This includes sorting based on store criteria, utilizing a pricing guide, minimizing trash, and salvaging as applicable. The position also involves identifying items that could be sold through e-commerce and pricing items accurately to balance maximizing price with providing value to the customer. The role requires maintaining productivity by meeting minimum production numbers, calculating and recording processed pieces, and participating in special projects related to wares. Employees are expected to follow established processes according to Kaizen standards, safety rules, and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area. This position is based in a retail store environment, including work in the warehouse area, which can involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and the physical handling of goods. The role requires standing and walking for extended periods, frequent bending and lifting, and the ability to safely move merchandise and materials. Weekend and evening work is required.

Requirements

Ability to efficiently and effectively perform all functions of the job.
Ability to stand, bend, lift, and reach for long periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift up to 80 pounds.
Use of both hands.
Good manual and finger dexterity.
Ability to visually inspect and eliminate non-saleable donations.
A high school degree (or its equivalent) is desirable, though an equivalent amount of training and experience will be considered in lieu of this requirement.
Proficient in computer use including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and internet use.
Ability to count, add, and subtract.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Ability to follow all safety rules.
Must be able to operate a pricing gun and price merchandise appropriately.

Knowledge of collectibles, antiques or specialized items strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Processes hard goods (wares, electrical, furniture, books, shoes, accessories).
Sorts based on store criteria.
Utilizes pricing guide.

Separates materials according to category (sales, salvage, seasonal goods).
Identifies items that are priced by management (high value or unique items).
Prices identified items as assigned by management.
Identifies items that could be sold through ecommerce.
Prices items accurately, balancing maximizing price with providing true value to the customer.
Maintains productivity by meeting minimum production numbers.
Calculates and records number of pieces processed.
Helps in donations or other areas as needed.
Participates in special projects related to wares.
Promotes internal and external customer service through effective communication.
Displays appropriate behavior (courteous and respectful interactions) with fellow employees.
Follows established processes according to Kaizen standards.
Consistently follows established safety rules.
Reports safety accidents and hazards when known and in a timely manner.
Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
Utilizes the proper equipment and supplies in meeting the safety standards.
Maintains workstation supplies.
Completes work station 5 minute clean up daily.
Demonstrates regard for Goodwill’s assets including property and equipment.
