About The Position

Join our team and help launch the first state psychiatric hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth, where innovative caregivers will make a lasting impact on behavioral health in Texas. The Texas Behavioral Health Center is a newly completed state-funded psychiatric hospital opening in Dallas’ Southwestern Medical District that is owned by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center. When fully operational, the 505,000-square-foot facility will house 292 beds – 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents. As DFW’s first state-funded behavioral health hospital, it is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, patient-centered care in a modern and healing environment. The center provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment and features private patient rooms, abundant access to natural light and nature, and thoughtfully designed spaces that promote recovery. The hospital will also provide training to all behavioral health disciplines. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing, nursing administration, healthcare administration, or healthcare related field required
  • 5 years of progressive related experience.
  • Five years of progressive, related experience in behavioral health or within a healthcare system that includes behavioral health services.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree with hospital management experience preferred
  • RN highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support clinical, operational and facility services throughout the entire Hospital on a 24 hour basis, coordinating operations and personnel activities to meet Hospital and Health System objectives.
  • Intervenes and problem solves for inter-/intra-departmental issues, facilitating interdepartmental communication, negotiation and decision-making.
  • Maintain visibility with hospital staff through rounds.
  • Organizes hospital operations and systems delivering services in a manner that meets or exceeds regulatory requirements, demonstrating judgment and self-sufficiency in effective problem solving while serving as the administrative and operational resource.
  • Oversee patient care flow while redirecting and allocating resources by determining necessary space, equipment, supplies and support systems to ensure effective functioning of unit/department & assisting Patient Access Services in coordinating patient placement.
  • Investigate patient/visitor concerns and implements appropriate courses of action, taking corrective action in situations requiring immediate intervention and optimizing service satisfaction of patients, families, physicians and staff.
  • Provide on-site management/leadership of crisis situations to prevent or minimize disruption of services.
  • Function as on-site coordinator for internal/external disasters/inclement weather or other major events.
  • Collaborate with clinical and support staff to foster delivery of quality care, communicating issues identified by front line staff to appropriate administrative team and assisting staff in identifying clinical experts for specific patient population concerns.
