The RN House Supervisor is a registered professional nurse providing hospital-wide leadership to all departments and divisions. This role utilizes advanced competencies in communication, job knowledge, professionalism, and business skills to foster a center of excellence for staff recruitment, retention, and improved clinical and business outcomes. As a member of the leadership team, the House Supervisor oversees hospital activities in the absence of the hospital president, administrators, and department directors, managing clinical, financial, human, and material resources. The position reports directly to nursing resources leadership and indirectly to the administrator on call (AOC), partnering with hospital leaders and medical staff to achieve the hospital's mission, vision, and goals. The RN House Supervisor also provides leadership and mentorship to department supervisors, assistant nurse managers, and charge nurses when traditional leaders are unavailable. This role is responsible for upholding standards, ensuring safe and quality care through effective communication, observation, and collaborative servant leadership. The supervisor applies performance improvement methodologies, Lean Six Sigma principles, and evidence-based practice, acting as a change agent. Additionally, the RN House Supervisor serves as a safety officer, ensuring regulatory and quality standards are met, mitigating risks, and promoting a culture of safety. The role fosters communication and collaboration across all departments, serves as a sponsor for performance improvement, and models effective teamwork. All nurse leaders are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association's Scope of Practice, and Code of Ethics Standards, while upholding patient advocacy and service excellence goals.
