About The Position

The House Supervisor RN at Providence Portland Medical Center is a per diem position working during weekdays and weekends on a night shift. This role coordinates the general operation of the Nursing Department and provides administrative coverage for Providence Portland Medical Center and its 24-hour operating departments when senior administrative personnel are not present. The Hospital Supervisor acts as a mentor and role model for the nursing staff on their shift by supporting and assisting staff in developing problem-solving, assertiveness, and leadership skills. This role also collaborates with the Nurse Manager and Staffing department in assisting with staffing and, in crisis situations, supports the Nurse Manager and Charge Nurse in coordinating and assigning nursing staff. The Hospital Supervisor initiates the disaster preparedness plan if needed, in collaboration with the Manager of Emergency Preparedness. Key skills required for this position include effective communication, functioning in crisis and urgent situations, and following up with department managers and staff. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Oregon Registered Nurse License upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
  • 1 year Charge Nurse or leadership experience and demonstrated leadership abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • National Certification in med-surg or related nursing area upon hire.
