About The Position

GAP Ministries is seeking mature, compassionate houseparents with a heart for ministry to provide supervision, structure, and assistance in meeting the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of neglected children in a group home setting in northwest Tucson, Arizona. This role involves creating a safe, nurturing environment and teaching life skills and Christian values through positive engagement and modeling a healthy family life.

Requirements

  • At least 22 years old to drive the 15-passenger van.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in working with children or a related role.
  • Successfully pass FBI and interstate criminal history background checks.
  • Possess a valid driver license and a good 5-year driving record.
  • Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills.
  • Willingness to learn GAP Ministries' ways and care for the children.
  • Experience working or volunteering with youth.
  • Physically fit to keep up with children, home, and paperwork.
  • Self-aware and emotionally able to display warmth and be comfortable with active, occasionally frustrated, and disorganized children.
  • Comfortable navigating computer and smart phone applications.
  • Willingness to engage in community activities, outings, trainings, and staff activities.
  • Embrace and exhibit GAP Ministries' mission and core values.
  • Flexible with a great sense of humor.
  • Proof of current immunizations for staff children.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily supervision and mentorship to a group of 8 to 10 children/young adults living in the home.
  • Work as a team with your spouse and other team members to create a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Creatively teach basic life skills and Christian values through positive behavior responses and engagement with children.
  • Complete daily tasks such as meal prep, laundry, transportation, housework, and homework.
  • Initiate and follow a daily schedule to create structure and stability for the children.
  • Collaborate with team members on community activities.
  • Complete necessary paperwork.
