About The Position

The House Manager for Hewitt House Bed and Breakfast is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, tidiness, and presentation of the property to welcome guests. This role involves overseeing maintenance, coordinating housekeeping and catering services, and managing small events. The House Manager acts as the primary point of contact for clients and guests, ensuring a high level of customer service and operational efficiency. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, with a focus on weekend availability, and involves working independently while also being part of a growing team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of customer service experience.
  • Flexible schedule appealing (rather than a traditional 9-5 M-F).
  • Excel in customer service/be a service-first minded individual.
  • Comfortable primarily working independently.
  • Availability on Fridays and Saturdays is required.
  • Willingness to help across all aspects of the company.

Nice To Haves

  • Guest accommodations or housekeeping experience preferred.
  • Experience in the care and preservation of antique furniture.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate maintenance and service needs for 10 guest rooms, shared indoor and outdoor guest spaces, and owner's quarters.
  • Schedule housekeeping services based on guest check-in and check-out dates.
  • Coordinate catering services for snack and beverage stations, breakfast/brunch, and House events (e.g., wedding rehearsal dinners, welcome parties, local events, corporate retreats).
  • Set up, tear down, and clean up for small events, and direct teams for larger events.
  • Maintain a constant presence at Hewitt House, greeting visitors and answering guest questions/calls with warm, sincere, motivated service.
  • Open Hewitt House daily using the Opening and Closing Checklist, ensuring spaces are clean, organized, and site visit-ready.
  • Greet clients and potential clients, providing House tours as needed.
  • Check in hotel guests upon arrival, including showing them to their rooms, completing paperwork, and providing a tour of public spaces.
  • After guest departure, check each guest room, complete a damage/cleaning report, restock snack and beverage stations, and freshen public spaces.
  • Maintain inventory of standard necessary items.
  • Oversee House budget and manage inventory and event repairs as necessary.
  • Serve in an on-call capacity on Sundays from 8 am to Noon when guests are on property.
