About The Position

A client in SoHo, Manhattan is seeking an experienced, proactive and flexible House Manager/Senior Housekeeper for a supportive private household team. This is a hands-on position combining high-standard housekeeping with coordination of household operations. The successful candidate will help keep the residence immaculate, organised, maintained and ready for the principal, family and guests, and will anticipate needs, manage contractors and resolve practical issues. The principal is in residence for most of the year and may be accompanied by family, pets and guests. The House Manager/Senior Housekeeper works closely with another housekeeper, drivers, property management and the family office. The position calls for ownership, sound judgement, discretion, initiative and a collaborative approach. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. When the family is in residence, the two housekeepers stagger their schedules across five days Monday through Sunday so that someone is present daily. Weekday starts may be at 6:00 or 6:30 a.m., and weekend starts at 7:00 a.m. Weekend work is required when guests are in residence, averaging one to two weekends per month; days off may then be taken during the week, provided coverage is maintained. Staff must be available for on-site duties within a 6:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m. window on a rotating basis, reachable outside those hours, and able to provide full-time cover when the other housekeeper is on annual leave. Additional hours, schedule changes and last-minute adjustments may be required. Work may be required on public holidays, particularly when the principal is in residence. Compensation is $55 or more per hour, depending on experience and suitability, with overtime paid as applicable. Benefits include 20 days of paid leave inclusive of public holidays, up to 10 days of paid sick leave, a monthly healthcare reimbursement of up to $1,000 for family coverage or $700 for single coverage in accordance with ICHRA rules, and a performance-related annual bonus. A retirement plan is not provided.
