About The Position

Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Hourly Project Assistant II to assist within the Office of Public Health to support communication, outreach, and community engagement activities that advance public health initiatives across New York State. The incumbent will assist with coordinating and implementing public health outreach efforts, including community events, career fairs, and public health exhibits designed to share key health information and resources with diverse communities. The Hourly Project Assistant II will assist with Office of Public Health staff to support the development and distribution of communication materials and assist in planning and executing community engagement activities. Responsibilities may include assisting with supporting event logistics, contributing to outreach strategies, assisting with the preparation of educational materials, and helping promote public health initiatives that address health equity and community well-being. This position is part of the Pathways to Public Health Internship Program, and the purpose is to provide students with practical experience in public health communication, community outreach, and program support while contributing to initiatives that strengthen community partnerships and promote improved health outcomes across New York State. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in, or have completed, a degree, certificate, or training program in public health, health sciences, biology, environmental health, epidemiology, statistics/biostatistics, data science, social sciences, health policy, or a closely related field.
  • Hourly employees may work full time (37.5 hours), up to 12 weeks. Thereafter, they must reduce effort to part time, 20 hours/week or less.
  • Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
  • Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in public health, communications, or community development.
  • Experience in event planning, outreach, or student organizations.
  • Experience in or volunteer work with community-based organizations.
  • Experience in creating marketing materials, communications, and/or brand strategy.
  • Familiarity with graphic design and media software like Adobe, Canva, or similar programs.
