Under general supervision, provides basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to WIC pregnant/breastfeeding mothers, including on-going breastfeeding education and/or counseling on the benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers to breastfeeding and how to start breastfeeding successfully. Assists in teaching prenatal breastfeeding classes for WIC participants and provides individual breastfeeding education as needed. Maintains a caseload of WIC pregnant/breastfeeding mothers, and uses proper and consistent documentation for peer counselor contacts in the database system.
