Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent accounting experience will be considered.
  • 1–3+ years of hotel accounting, income audit, or hospitality accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI) is a plus.
  • Experience with Sage 50 Quantum or comparable accounting software preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with spreadsheets, formulas, and financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with financial records.
  • Ability to analyze financial information, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple properties, entities, and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with hotel and corporate teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial and employee information.
  • Hospitality or hotel accounting experience is preferred but not required for candidates with strong accounting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily income audit procedures, verifying room revenue, rate variances, folio adjustments, and other revenue activity against PMS reports.
  • Reconcile daily revenue postings across rooms, food and beverage, and other operated departments in accordance with USALI standards.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between PMS, POS, and general ledger postings.
  • Review complimentary rooms, discounts, adjustments, allowances, and other revenue adjustments for proper authorization and documentation.
  • Monitor credit card settlements and reconcile activity against merchant statements.
  • Identify unusual revenue activity or discrepancies and communicate findings to the appropriate hotel or accounting leadership.
  • Maintain accurate and organized daily audit documentation and supporting records.
  • Assist with month-end close procedures, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with accounts payable processing, including invoice coding, approvals, and vendor account maintenance.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and assist with variance analysis.
  • Review financial activity for accuracy and completeness and research discrepancies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records using Sage 50 Quantum or comparable accounting software.
  • Assist with maintaining proper documentation for financial transactions and accounting processes.
  • Support the Controller with financial reporting, audits, special projects, and other accounting-related requests.
  • Assist with ensuring accounting practices are consistent with company policies, internal controls, and USALI standards.
  • Support accounting activities across multiple hotel properties and legal entities.
  • Communicate with hotel-level leadership and operational teams regarding accounting questions, discrepancies, and financial documentation.
  • Manage multiple priorities while meeting daily, weekly, and monthly accounting deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial information.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and overall efficiency.
