The primary objective of this position is to provide quality service to hotel guests through prompt and courteous food and beverage service. This includes serving breakfast, attending the pool, bartending, and providing room service. The role requires learning and using guest names during interactions. Candidates must be 21 years old or older with a valid driver's license and be flexible to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds for short distances
  • Ability to talk with different kinds of people to find out what services they want and to give them information
  • Ability to stand or walk for varying lengths of time, sometimes for long periods
  • Ability to lift and carry things like heavy trays
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • CA Driver's License Required plus Current DMV Printout
  • Must have or complete TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) alcohol awareness certification as scheduled upon employment
  • Must have Food Safety Handler Certification or willingness and ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment

Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed customer and team member expectations by providing exceptional service and teamwork
  • Provide value added service to customers by doing whatever reasonable and possible to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors
  • Demonstrate teamwork by cooperating and assisting co-workers as needed
  • Take food and drink orders from customers
  • Serve bottled beer as well as prepare and serve mixed drinks
  • Acquire a working knowledge of basic bar and mixing skills in order to prepare all beverages listed on hotel cocktail menu
  • Prepare charge ticket and have guest sign acknowledging their orders
  • Take the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner
  • Keep the pool area neat and tidy, including picking up towels, replacing chair covers, picking up dirty dishes/cups, and organizing lounge chairs
  • Provide prompt, courteous service by delivering food and beverage orders to guest rooms
  • Carry silverware, linen, and food on tray or use serving cart to transport order to room
  • Set up table and serve food from cart
  • Answer questions regarding room service and respond to requests for additional food or drink service
  • Collect or stack dirty dishes on tray, table, or serving cart and remove from room or retrieve from outside of room
  • Verify guest's name and room number with Guest Registration Report, which should be updated every hour
  • Operate Room Service Vehicle in a safe and courteous manner, checking for pedestrians, driving at a safe speed, and yielding to oncoming vehicles
  • Acquire a working knowledge of hotel, in-house facilities, and local information to respond to customer questions
  • Inform manager of any customer dissatisfaction
  • Attend work on time as scheduled
  • Follow hotel grooming and dress standards
  • Minimize safety hazards by following all safety rules and procedures
