Engineers Job Title: Hotel Maintenance Technicican Status: NON-EXEMPT Reports to: Area Chief Engineer Position Summary: The main function of the Engineer is to perform skilled maintenance and repair duties for the property, including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, paint touch ups etc… He or she is responsible for ensuring that all guest rooms and property are well maintained and in the best possible condition. Must approach all encounters with guests, associates and vendors in a friendly and service-oriented manner.

Requirements

1 to 2 years practical experience in one or more of the technical trades (HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Electrical, etc.)
Ability to work with various pieces of equipment such as computer, telephone, two-way radios, TVs, maintenance equipment etc.
Ability to work under variable temperature conditions
Ability to work under variable noise levels
Ability to work outdoors/indoors
Ability to work around chemicals, fumes and other odor hazards, dust or mite hazards
Must be able to climb stairs, descend stairs
Must be able to move quickly and agilely if a situation requiring quick assistance arises
Multi Task
Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances
Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms
Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels
Near Vision - The ability to see details at close range
Oral and Written Comprehension and Expression - Must be able to convey & understand information and ideas in English

Must be able to work with and understand basic arithmetic functions
Maintain regular attendance, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, as defined in the hotel handbook, when working
Comply at all times hotel’s policies and procedures to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
Positively interact with hotel guests
Must be able to work and manage the mechanical, guest room, public space, and PM programs
Must be able to manage the lights and grounds program

Nice To Haves

Trade school or college course work in a related field preferred
Previous customer service & hotel experience preferred
Any license the property may require

Responsibilities

Perform skilled maintenance and repair duties for the property, including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, paint touch ups etc.
Ensure that all guest rooms and property are well maintained and in the best possible condition.
Approach all encounters with guests, associates and vendors in a friendly and service-oriented manner.
Make repairs to air conditioner(s) – change filters, clean coils, replace blower motors, etc.
Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, replace HVAC compressors
Take equipment readings and water samples
Replace TV’s and cable boxes. Program movie channel boxes
Replace light switches, receptacles, and light bulbs
Perform furniture repairs
Check and replace pumps
Adjust chemical pumps as required
Perform plumbing repairs – open clogged drains, change FET washers, stems seats, cartridges, handles, drain fittings, etc.
Understand blueprints and wiring diagrams
Trace and repair drain and water lines
Maintain preventive maintenance of HVAC systems
Repair kitchen equipment
Maintain repair records
Handle Dangerous Chemicals
Manage inventory program
Work totally un supervised
Direct other engineering associates
Maintain legal documents, i.e. boiler log, PM logs emergency log
Work with and direct contractors
Make informed decisions regarding the department and the physical plant
Assist as Property Security as requested
Keep immediate supervisors fully informed of all challenges or matters requiring his/her attention
Maintain pool and spa – clean, vacuum, adjust chemical levels, change valves, and replace filters. Maintain records of chemical balances
