About The Position

The Hotel Maintenance Person is responsible for responding to guest inquiries and requests in a courteous manner, performing general maintenance tasks, and ensuring the proper functioning of hotel systems. This role involves routine repairs, assisting with landscaping, and maintaining tools and workspaces. The position also requires adherence to company policies and government regulations, and may involve special projects as requested by management.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate, listen, take orders, and multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum direct supervision.
  • Ability to drive a shuttle van, including having a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including long hours, and be available for call-ins during emergencies or snowstorms.
  • Night and weekend availability is required and mandatory.
  • Ability to read, speak, write, and understand the primary language of the workplace.
  • Previous hotel, trade show, commercial building or building maintenance experience.
  • General knowledge of light maintenance.
  • Requires lifting up to 60 pounds on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, climbing ladders, walking, repetitive motions, visual acuity, listening ability, and good speaking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responding to guest questions, complaints, and requests in a courteous manner.
  • Performing general maintenance, including routine repairs, replacing bathroom tiles and light bulbs, painting, repairing walls, and minor carpentry.
  • Regularly checking air (HVAC), heating, ventilation, appliances, and plumbing, and notifying the Chief Engineer when repairs are needed.
  • Assisting with landscaping.
  • Utilizing basic hand and power tools for general maintenance.
  • Completing checklists and other maintenance records in accordance with company policy and government regulations.
  • Maintaining tools, workspaces, and equipment.
  • Complying with all Best Western and LaCava Companies procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Performing other services, duties, and special projects as requested by the General Manager.
