Hotel Houseperson
About The Position
The Hotel Houseperson contributes to an attractive and clean hotel in accordance with company and brand standards. The position works primarily indoors at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Uptown Charlotte. The schedule is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with weekday and weekend availability required. The houseperson cleans hotel areas, maintains guest hallways and public spaces, supports housekeepers with room servicing, delivers requested items and amenities to guestrooms, and completes projects assigned by supervisors and management. The role also involves using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely, protecting hotel property, reporting maintenance needs promptly, and engaging with guests to identify and meet their needs.
Requirements
- Prior housekeeping experience or other relevant environmental services experience.
- Availability to work any hours and days of the week necessary to meet business requirements; weekday and weekend availability is required.
- Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
- Professional business appearance, attitude, and performance.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry approximately 50 pounds; stand for long periods; kneel, bend, crawl, squat, and crouch; and tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals.
Responsibilities
- Clean hotel areas to company and brand standards, including dusting, sweeping, washing walls, scrubbing floors, washing windows, doors, panels and sills, emptying trash, vacuuming furniture and draperies, and cleaning bathrooms.
- Keep guest hallways neat, clean, and free of linen and trash.
- Complete work projects assigned by supervisors and management.
- Clean and polish floors, windows, mirrors, vending machines, and ice machines.
- Vacuum and shampoo carpets and remove soiled spots as required.
- Remove litter from public spaces.
- Transport trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Assist housekeepers with room servicing, including stripping beds, removing trash, bagging linen, and transporting linen to laundry.
- Deliver requested service items and amenities to guestrooms.
- Use housekeeping chemicals as necessary to clean assigned areas to standard, taking proper caution with chemicals and equipment to prevent damage to hotel property.
- Report maintenance requests promptly and efficiently to support proper maintenance and repair of hotel equipment.
- Engage with guests, identify their needs, and meet or exceed expectations.
