About The Position

The General Manager serves as the strategic and operational leader of Marriott Macon City Center, responsible for delivering enriching experiences and heartfelt service, associate engagement, financial performance, and long-term asset value. This role provides forward-thinking leadership while ensuring operational excellence across all departments, reflecting the brand’s ultimate mission Wonderful Hospitality. Always. A critical component of this position is fostering a strong partnership with hotel ownership through proactive communication, transparency, responsiveness, and accountability. As the leader of the Macon Marriott City Center, the General Manager is accountable for maximizing profitability, driving market share, protecting the owner's investment, and ensuring the hotel consistently exceeds guest expectations and brand standards. The General Manager will work closely with ownership, Marriott International, local stakeholders, and the Mainsail leadership team to position the property as the preferred hotel and event destination in Central Georgia. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of a landmark property while leading a highly visible operation that serves both visitors and the Macon community. About Marriott Macon City Center The Macon Marriott City Center is a premier full-service hotel connected to the Macon Centreplex and convention facilities in the heart of Macon, Georgia. Featuring 220 guest rooms, extensive meeting and event space, full-service food and beverage offerings, and a strong mix of corporate, association, government, university, sports, and social business, the hotel serves as a key hospitality asset for the region. The property is entering an exciting new chapter under the management of Mainsail Lodging & Development, a nationally recognized hospitality company known for creating exceptional guest experiences, developing high-performing teams, and delivering industry-leading results. The General Manager is responsible for preserving and elevating this unique identity while driving operational and financial success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Prior General Manager experience is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a management role overseeing operations, sales and marketing, finance and accounting and/or related professional area; including 3+ years as Hotel Manager / Resort Manager / Director of Operations with significant exposure to Rooms and Food & Beverage operations.
  • Marriott brand experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working directly with ownership groups, investors, and asset managers.
  • Proven success managing complex Food & Beverage operations.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking abilities.
  • Advanced understanding of hotel financial management, forecasting, budgeting, and balance sheet analysis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and hospitality management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

  • Develops comprehensive business plans that align with Mainsail Lodging & Development, Marriott International, and Premium Portfolio brand objectives. These plans are translated into actionable strategies and measurable goals that drive operational excellence and long-term success.
  • Implements and drives business plans designed to enhance guest satisfaction, increase profitability, strengthen market positioning, and create sustainable growth.
  • Ensures all departments are aligned with the hotel's strategic goals while maintaining accountability for execution and results.
  • Encourages innovation and calculates risk-taking to improve guest experiences, operational efficiency, and financial performance while ensuring decisions positively impact the overall success of the property.

  • Serves as the primary representative of the hotel to ownership and investors.
