About The Position

The Hotel General Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operations and financial performance of the hotel. This includes managing staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and franchise agreements, and maintaining high standards of guest satisfaction and operational efficiency. The role involves developing budgets, monitoring market trends, and ensuring all departments function effectively.

Requirements

  • Experience in hotel management.

  • Experience in recruitment, hiring, training, and employee development.
  • Knowledge of safety training and programs (MSDS, lock out tag out, etc.).
  • Ability to control funds and authorize expenditures.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to conduct staff and departmental meetings.
  • Experience with Manager on Duty (MOD) system.
  • Ability to monitor market trends and competitive analysis.
  • Ability to approve purchases within guidelines.
  • Skills in inspecting facilities for cleanliness and appearance.
  • Ability to handle guest complaints and resolve issues effectively.
  • Commitment to ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to manage 1-10 subordinate supervisors and a total of 10-250 employees.
  • Ability to directly supervise 1-2 non-supervisory employees.

Responsibilities

  • Reinforce standards for hotel personnel administration and performance in compliance with KHC policies/procedures, state, federal and local laws.
  • Oversee and manage the business unit's overall financial performance including Revenue Management, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Cash Handling and Purchasing.
  • Develop and manage operating budgets in conjunction with subordinate managers and Director of Operations.
  • Ensure compliance with franchise agreements through regular inspections of quality and service programs, timely filing of franchise reports, addressing new standards and capital needs, and promptly responding to guest relations cases.
  • Monitor the recruitment, hiring, training, development, and orientation of all hotel employees.
  • Oversee employee relations and provide leadership for all staff members.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance on safety training and programs such as MSDS status, lock out tag out, safety committees, blood-borne pathogens, prevention, fire/tornado procedures and general safety.
  • Control funds, authorize expenditures, and assist in planning budgets for departments.
  • Oversee and ensure each employee understands and is offered employee benefits during initial eligibility window or open enrollment periods.
  • Hold weekly staff meetings to ensure regular and consistent communication.
  • Hold department heads accountable for revenue and departmental meetings.
  • Schedule and oversee the Manager on Duty (MOD) system.
  • Monitor and report to the Director of Operations changes in the local market and competitive trends that affect business unit performance.
  • Approve purchases of supplies and equipment within KHC purchasing guidelines.
  • Inspect guests' rooms, public access areas, and outside grounds for cleanliness and appearance.
  • Answer patrons' complaints and resolve problems quickly to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction through excellent customer service, training, and timely follow-up.
  • Follow all KHC policies and procedures as set forth in the KHC handbook and property specific guidelines/standards, including dress code, safety, and performance standards.
  • Maintain a professional image and report to work as scheduled.
  • Manage subordinate supervisors and employees across various departments (Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, Front Desk, Sales).
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and resolving problems.
