About The Position

The Heywood Hotel is an award-winning, 7-room boutique hotel located in East Austin, seeking a dedicated, hard-working individual to join their small, independent, woman-owned team. The Hotel Concierge will lead the concierge practice by developing resources and relationships to provide guests with the best Austin experiences. This role is crucial for the Heywood's brand distinction, which is its insider knowledge of Austin. The Concierge must possess expert knowledge of Austin's attractions, restaurants, bars, and transportation systems, and be discerning in providing recommendations. The position involves being busy, thinking on one's feet, and having a good eye for detail, all while working to help guests fall in love with the city. The Heywood Hotel is an indie, 100% local, 7-room hotel featured in Conde Nast Traveler, New York Times, and more, prioritizing environmental and people-friendly practices, offering good pay, performance bonuses, merit-based wage increases, and a respectful work environment where guests and employees are treated as individuals.

Requirements

  • Process-oriented with strong computer skills (Windows, Office)
  • Passion for guest satisfaction
  • Resident of Austin for at least 1 year with local knowledge (especially East Austin area!)
  • Customer service experience and/or administrative/office experience
  • Attention to detail, team-oriented, and positive attitude
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Background check

Responsibilities

  • Lead our concierge practice through the development of resources and relationships that help us provide our guests with the best experiences Austin has to offer.
  • Provide accurate and on-brand recommendations to our guests.
  • Assist in our concierge-related materials and information systems, including our Guest Directory and our Website CMS, to ensure completeness, clarity and currency of the information.
  • Assist with management of our tours and activities programs.
  • Help establish commission-based partnerships with local tour operators.
  • Provide information for marketing those services to guests.
  • Arrange tours on behalf of guests.
  • Interface with the marketing team in order to provide expert guidance on local Austin activities, restaurants, and happenings.
  • Assist with creation of room guides and promotional materials highlighting concierge recommendations and helping to promote the hotel.
  • Contribute to social media marketing and website content, based on interest and aptitude.
  • Work the front desk and assist guests as needed.
  • Perform desk reception and reservations duties.
  • Check in guests, greeting them when they arrive and guiding them through the check in process.
  • Pitch in as needed to ensure the overall cleanliness and preparation of the hotel and guest rooms, including room setup, laundry, dishes, light housekeeping, light maintenance tasks, administrative tasks, office management, ordering supplies, taking inventories, writing emails, making phone calls, etc.
  • Direct guests to the best Austin restaurants, cocktail lounges and activities.
  • Assist guests with whatever they may need throughout their stay.
  • Help out with general hotel preparedness, including stocking supplies, managing inventories, preparing and quality-checking rooms, folding laundry and ensuring general hotel tidiness.
