About The Position

The Hot Summer Night Youth Worker supports the creation of a safe, engaging, and positive Friday & Saturday night environment that promotes the personal, educational, and social development of young people aged 5–19. Youth Workers help participants build skills, confidence, and positive attitudes while addressing issues such as health, education, employment, relationships, and social inclusion.

Requirements

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated creativity, energy, and enthusiasm for working with children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; patient, friendly, and organized.
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screens.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and/or Google Suite and relevant software.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the needs of young people and develop programs addressing health, fitness, anti-drug awareness, relationships, bullying, and other youth-related issues.
  • Implement arts-based activities, sports, outdoor education, community/environmental projects, and residential programs.
  • Participate actively in all planned activities.
  • Supervise program participants at all times and maintain presence in assigned areas.
  • Ensure a safe and positive environment, modeling appropriate behavior and emotional expression.
  • Monitor, report, and address behavioral or environmental issues promptly.
  • Mentor, support, and befriend participants to encourage social inclusion and personal growth.
  • Promote positive skills, attitudes, and decision-making among program participants.
  • Liaise and collaborate with schools, police, social services, and other agencies to address youth issues and promote opportunities.
  • Foster positive relationships with staff, program participants, families, program partners, and community members.
  • Manage and administer youth and community projects and resources.
  • Set up, take down, and clean up after programs and events.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support program goals and organizational needs.
