About The Position

Oceana Coastal Kitchen is the signature restaurant at the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, offering beachfront dining with views of Mission Bay and chef-driven cuisine. The Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa is owned by Evans Hotels, LLC, a family-owned business committed to employee well-being through various programs. The Hostperson welcomes guests warmly, manages reservations, and collaborates with staff to meet guest needs.

Requirements

• At least 3 months of relevant experience and/or training.
• Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
• Must be able to attain a valid San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire.
• RBS Certification required.
• Ability to maintain a friendly, team-oriented, positive attitude and a professional appearance at all times.
• Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• Previous similar position in customer service, restaurant, or hotel is preferred.
• A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement.

Responsibilities

• Review and anticipate reservations prior to guest arrival; address guests by name when possible.
• Escort guests to their tables according to seating plans, engaging in light, friendly conversation.
• Assist guests with seating by holding chairs in accordance with service standards.
• Offer to take initial drink orders to expedite service when appropriate.
• Manage the reservation system to optimize table turnover and guest satisfaction.
• Maintain clean, updated, and appropriately stocked menus; replace worn or soiled menus promptly.
• Answer telephone calls promptly (within three rings) using proper telephone etiquette.
• Maintain accurate wait lists, ensuring guests are informed and comfortable while waiting.
• Coordinate with the hotel concierge and other departments to accommodate special requests and enhance the guest experience.
• Keep the host stand organized and stocked with necessary supplies.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
