About The Position
The Hostperson ("Recepcionista de Restaurante") welcomes guests to the restaurant in a warm and enthusiastic fashion. The role involves presenting a professional appearance, managing reservations, and collaborating with other staff to meet guest needs. This position is located at A.R. Valentien, a fine dining restaurant within The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, known for its seasonal cuisine and elegant atmosphere.
Requirements
- At least 6-12 months of relevant experience and/or training.
- Experience in dealing with the public is required, such as customer service in retail, food & beverage, hospitality, etc.
- Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
- Must be able to attain a valid San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire.
- RBS certification required.
- Ability to maintain a friendly, team-oriented, positive attitude and a professional appearance at all times.
- Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.

- Previous similar position in a restaurant or hotel is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Makes eye contact and smiles warmly when welcoming guests.
- Is aware of reservation names in advance of guest's arrival.
- Seats guests according to a pre-arranged seating plan and initiates light conversation while doing so.
- Hands menus to guests and takes drink order to expedite and improve service, as necessary.
- Manages the reservation book to ensure all reservations are honored for the correct time.
- Ensures appropriate menus are available for distribution (i.e. lunch, dinner etc.).
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
